West Calgary Real Estate
West Calgary real estate is among the most highly valued real estate in Calgary. Edged by the Rocky Mountains and liberally sprinkled with forested ravines, wetlands and beautiful parks, this is a naturally attractive part of the city and a great place to live.
Just 45 minutes to Canmore and just over an hour to Banff, West Calgary real estate is rich in mountain views and worlds of possibility when it comes to skiing, hiking and romantic weekend get-aways. With most communites well-connected to the downtown core, it's also just a quick commute to the financial district and some of the biggest employers in the city.
West Calgary Homes
West Calgary homes come in all shapes and sizes, but the majority of the housing in this part of Calgary is single family. You'll find plenty of new construction, spacious family homes and luxurious executive homes in quiet neighbourhoods. Residents here are well-served by recreational centers, wave pools, public splash parks for the kids, theatres and all levels of education. The five star restaurants and high fashion boutiques of downtown Calgary are just a short drive away and destination malls like Crowfoot Centre in the northwest and West Hills in the south are hubs of shopping for the entire city.
West Calgary Communities
There are literally hundreds of fantastic West Calgary communities to choose from. Some of my favourites include:
Arbour Lake: This is a friendly community built around a 10 acre lake. Fun for all ages and in all seasons, this is a great place to swim in the summertime, and in winter when it freezes over - get ready to break out the skates! Joggers, cyclists and casual strollers will love the scenic trails.
Aspen Woods: This peaceful suburb in South West Calgary is edged by rural land and backed by the majestic Rockies. You'll find many beautiful homes in this area from starters right up to multi-million dollar executive homes.
Discovery Ridge: A prestigious Southwest Calgary neighbourhood of well-planned winding streets and luxurious family homes. This is an awesome community with it's own village shopping centre.
Rocky Ridge and Royal Oak: Two great Northwest Calgary communities that have it all. Side by side, you'll find a wide selection of new single family homes surrounded by wild wetlands and views of the Rockies in these sister communities. Like all of West Calgary, residents here have easy access to the downtown. The communities are also well served by the Royal Oak shopping Centre and a c-train station is planned to open in 2014.
